GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES
There are two programs recognized internationally under GAP certification for the Farm Produce.
These programs are accredited
1. Organic Farm Certification
2. Global G.A.P
3. Basic G.A.P. for Small and Marginal Farmers
4. InGAP for Large Farmers
5. Recent Updates
Recently Quality Council of India (www.qcin.org) prepared a GAP document at the request of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) (http://www.fssai.gov.in/) to facilitate certification for small and marginal farmers and also another document for certification of larger farmers.
These programs brought under the accreditation of National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) (www.qcin.org). The implementation will enable the production of safe food at the farm level. This simple document can be used by farmer producer organizations, cooperative societies, NGOs, Further the corporate houses in food production can help their farmer’s suppliers to implement this new document for enhancing food safety at the farm level.
